A punk-inspired press-on nail design featuring a red base with black lattice patterns and intricate metallic studs forming a cross.

Making of Set No.5 first piece - Studded cross

Zhen Chen
I love rock music, but deep down, I'm a punk person—rebellious and stubborn. I've thought more than once about creating a punk-style nail set, after all, I am a designer with attitude.

First I draw a sketch of the idea. A lot of remale punk lovers wear fishnet stockings. I decide to use black and red as the theme color, so I paint the nail twice with the TAYE acrylic gel C051.

It is quite challenging to control the lining gel, especially when you must keep each line the same thickness and make sure they are parallel. What you see here is the third attempt. After several times of holding breath for long enough, the lines finally looked satisfying.

Then it is time for the silver ring. I use the semi-liquid 3d gel from 1CM2. I like it because it is no-wipe, it is easy to apply powder.

Then I use the TAYE C033 acrylic gel to paint the black cross. Yes I decide to make it a cross instead of bondage because I think a cross is more 'punkish'.

Here it comes to the stud part. I purchased many studs in several sizes. Only the smallest one can fit the nail because it is so small that the base won't be too flat for the curvy nail tip, and the proportion looks better.

Finally it's done. I have to say the more I look at it the more I love it! Hang on for the next piece. There will be more studs!
